  • Country Granny’s Cooking Tip: Leftover Pizza

Like most Southern Californians, specifically if you live in Los Angeles County, you probably have a gas stove. If you have a gas stove, you know that during the summer…everyone uses the oven as little as possible. My grandmother gave me this amazing tip. So if you hate using the microwave to reheat pizza, Use a skillet like so (excuse the charred lid…lol):

Reheats pizza, while keeping the crust crisp and the cheese is perfectly melted. What kinds of cooking tips have you learned from your granny? Whether they are from the country or not.

Thank you so much for this tip. I never would have thought of this.

No Problem! My grandma uses a skillet for everything. LOL She makes toast, and I have known her to make cornbread even!

Then I thought about it, it’s the same concept as a ‘Dutch Oven’. Many Traditional homes in Amsterdam don’t have ovens in the kitchen, so everything is made on a stove top. I will say that it doesn’t get the pizza as hot as an oven, but you can pretty much start eating it as soon as it comes out the skillet, and you don’t have to let it sit for a minute or two, as you would with any other method.

My parents always reheat pizza in the oven, never the microwave. I would have never thought to use the skillet.
